Free domain authority checker for Moz DA, PA and Spam Score
Free Domain Authority Checker shows the official Moz Domain Authority of any website in a few seconds, together with Page Authority, Spam Score, Majestic Trust Flow and Citation Flow, backlinks, referring domains and domain age from live WHOIS. No sign up, no captcha and no browser extension needed.
Check domain authority of any website in seconds
Some people call it a website authority checker, others a Moz DA checker or a DA and PA checker. The questions behind the search are nearly always the same three. How strong is my site? How strong is the competitor I'm trying to beat? Is this site worth a link? This tool answers all three with real data, not an estimate dressed up as DA.
Type a domain into the box above and you get a full report: the Moz DA gauge, Page Authority, Spam Score, Trust Flow, Citation Flow, the backlink profile, topical Trust Flow, a WHOIS record and eight technical health checks. It's a free domain authority checker with no sign up: everyone gets 10 free checks a day without creating an account, and opening the same domain again on the same day doesn't count twice.
We built it because most free DA PA checkers make you fight through captchas, ads and sign up walls, then show one number with no context. A domain authority score on its own can fool you. Next to Spam Score and Trust Flow, it rarely does.
What our DA PA checker shows
Every report includes these metrics. Missing data shows as “Not available” instead of a guessed number.
| Metric | From | Scale | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Domain Authority (DA) | Moz | 1 to 100 | How likely the whole website is to rank compared with others |
| Page Authority (PA) | Moz | 1 to 100 | The ranking strength of the homepage on its own |
| Spam Score | Moz | 1 to 100% | How many penalized sites share this site's features |
| Trust Flow (TF) | Majestic | 0 to 100 | Link quality, measured as closeness to trusted seed sites |
| Citation Flow (CF) | Majestic | 0 to 100 | Link volume and influence, regardless of quality |
| Backlinks and referring domains | Link index | Count | How many links and unique websites point at the domain |
| Dofollow share, linking IPs and subnets | Link index | Count and % | Whether the link profile looks natural or concentrated |
| Domain age | Live WHOIS | Years | When the domain was first registered |
| Technical health | Live check | 8 checks | HTTPS, redirects, HSTS, response time, robots.txt and sitemap |
Because Page Authority and Spam Score sit right next to DA, the report doubles as a page authority checker and a Moz spam score checker. You can copy the result as text, download it as CSV, or save a branded image of the report to share with a client or teammate.
How to check domain authority
To check website authority for your own domain or anyone else's, it takes four clicks and no account:
- Enter the root domain, such as example.com, in the checker above. A full URL works too; it's trimmed to the domain automatically.
- Press Check authority. The report scrolls into view when it's ready, usually within a few seconds.
- Read the Moz Domain Authority gauge and its rating, from Weak to Excellent.
- Check Spam Score and the Trust Flow to Citation Flow ratio before trusting a high DA.
- Compare the score with the sites that rank for your keyword, not with an ideal number.

That's the whole process for one site. Our step by step guide on how to check domain authority also covers checking lists in bulk, comparing competitors and the mistakes that lead to wrong conclusions.
What is domain authority?
Domain Authority is a 1 to 100 score created by Moz that predicts how likely a website is to rank in search results compared with other websites. It's calculated by a machine learning model, mostly from the number of unique websites linking to a domain and how strong those websites are.
Two things trip people up. The scale is logarithmic, so climbing from 20 to 30 is much easier than from 70 to 80. And it's relative, so your score can change when other sites gain links even if yours don't. Google doesn't use DA, but the link signals behind it are the same ones search engines reward. The full explanation is in our guide to what domain authority is.
How to read your domain authority score
Like any domain authority score checker, ours shows a number from 1 to 100. Here's what each band of the scale usually means; the ratings match the badge you see in the report.
| DA | Rating | What it usually means |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 20 | Weak | A new or thinly linked site. Best suited to niche, low competition keywords. |
| 21 to 40 | Fair | A developing backlink profile. May compete for less competitive keywords. |
| 41 to 60 | Good | A solid profile that competes for moderately competitive keywords. |
| 61 to 80 | Strong | A well established site, likely to compete for most keywords in its niche. |
| 81 to 100 | Excellent | Among the most linked sites on the web. |
A good score is the one that matches or beats your competitors. A DA of 25 can lead a local market, while a national publisher at 25 is small. We break this down by type of site in what is a good domain authority.
Read DA together with PA, Spam Score and Trust Flow
A single domain authority score is easy to fake and easy to misread. These three metrics, all in the same report, tell you whether the number is earned.
Page Authority: the strength of one page
Page Authority uses the same Moz model as DA but scores a single URL from the links pointing at it. Use DA to compare websites and PA to compare the specific pages you're competing with. Our page authority guide explains why a low PA page on a strong site can still rank well.
Spam Score: a quick risk check
Moz Spam Score is the percentage of sites with similar features that Google penalized or banned. 1 to 30% is low, 31 to 60% is medium and 61% and above is high. A high DA with a high Spam Score is the classic sign of a site pumped up with link schemes. See how to read Spam Score for what to do with each band.
Trust Flow and Citation Flow: quality vs volume
Majestic's Trust Flow measures link quality and Citation Flow measures link volume. When Trust Flow is less than half of Citation Flow, a site has plenty of links but few trusted ones. Our report shows the ratio for you and labels it healthy, average or unbalanced.
Bulk domain authority checker for link prospects
Checking sites one at a time is fine for your own domain. It's painful when you're vetting a list of guest post offers, outreach targets or expired domains. That's what a bulk DA PA checker is for.
Paste a list into the bulk domain authority checker and every domain is scored in one sortable table with DA, PA, Trust Flow, Citation Flow, Spam Score, age and referring domains. Free users can check 10 domains per run. Check packs raise the limit to 30, 100 or 250 domains at once, and you can export everything to CSV or paste it straight into a spreadsheet.
Our tip for big lists: sort by Spam Score first and drop anything risky, then sort what's left by DA. It removes most pumped sites before you waste time reading them.

Compare domains side by side
When you need a verdict rather than a list, compare up to 4 websites in one table. Each metric gets a winner highlighted, so you can see at a glance which site is stronger on authority, link quality, spam risk and age. Comparison is a Pro feature included with every check pack, and you can try it from the compare page.
Free checks and paid packs
The checker is free for everyday use. Packs are one time payments for people who check domains in volume; nothing renews.
| Free | With a check pack | |
|---|---|---|
| Domain checks | 10 per day | 3,000 to 80,000 checks, from $0.00125 each |
| Bulk check per run | 10 domains | 30 to 250 domains |
| Compare side by side | Not included | Up to 4 domains |
| Copy, CSV and image export | Included | Included |
| Account needed | No | Yes, to keep your checks |

Why numbers differ between SEO tools
Check the same website in a few tools and you'll get different numbers. That's normal. Moz reports Domain Authority, Ahrefs reports Domain Rating, Semrush reports Authority Score and Majestic reports Trust Flow. Each one uses its own crawler and formula.
That also answers two common questions. There's no Google domain authority checker, because Google doesn't publish a DA score. And there's no Ahrefs domain authority; Ahrefs' metric is Domain Rating. Our comparison of Domain Authority vs Domain Rating vs Trust Flow explains what each one measures and when to use it.
Who uses a domain authority checker
- SEOs and link builders vetting guest post sites and outreach targets before spending time or money.
- Site owners tracking whether their link building is working month by month.
- Agencies sizing up competitors and adding DA, Trust Flow and Spam Score to client reports.
- Domain investors checking the authority, spam risk and age of expired or auction domains.
- Marketers and PR teams choosing which publications to pitch first.
If your own score is lower than you'd like, our guide on how to increase domain authority covers the steps that work and the shortcuts that backfire.
Where the data comes from
Domain Authority, Page Authority and Spam Score are Moz metrics. Trust Flow and Citation Flow are Majestic metrics. We show them exactly as reported, without rescaling or mixing in our own numbers. Moz's own Link Explorer shows the same DA after you create a Moz account; this Moz domain authority checker shows it without one. Domain age and the WHOIS record come from a live registry lookup at the moment you check, and the technical checks run live against the site.
Reports are kept for up to six hours so repeat visits load instantly; press Re-check on any report for the latest numbers. If a score moved since your last check, why domain authority drops lists the usual causes.
Want the details on every metric, the fallback we use when a domain has no link data and the limits of each score? It's all on our methodology page.
Frequently asked questions
Is this domain authority checker really free?
Yes. Everyone gets 10 free domain checks a day with no account, no captcha and no extension. Each report includes Moz DA, Page Authority, Spam Score, Trust Flow, Citation Flow, backlinks and domain age. Check packs are only for heavy use, bigger bulk runs and side by side comparison.
What is my domain authority, and how do I find it?
Type your domain, for example yoursite.com, into the checker at the top of this page and press Check authority. Your Moz Domain Authority appears on the gauge within a few seconds, with Page Authority and Spam Score next to it.
Can I check the domain authority of a subdomain or a single page?
You can enter a subdomain such as blog.example.com and it's checked as its own host. Moz Domain Authority is a domain level score, so for a single article the number to look at is that page's Page Authority.
Why does my website have a domain authority of 1?
Every new website starts at 1. It usually means Moz hasn't discovered links pointing to the site yet. The score rises as other websites link to you and Moz's crawler finds those links.
How often is domain authority updated?
Moz refreshes its link index continuously and recalculates DA on a regular cycle, so scores can change every few weeks. We keep each report for up to six hours; press Re-check for the latest numbers.
Is there a domain authority checker Chrome extension?
We don't offer an extension. The checker works in any browser on desktop and mobile, so there's nothing to install. Moz offers its own MozBar extension if you prefer one.
Does a higher domain authority mean more traffic?
Not directly. Google doesn't use DA. A higher score built from real links from relevant sites usually comes with better rankings and more traffic, but a DA raised with link schemes won't bring visitors.
Can I trust a website just because its DA is high?
No. DA can be inflated with link schemes. Check Spam Score and the Trust Flow to Citation Flow ratio in the same report. A high DA with a high Spam Score or weak Trust Flow is a warning sign.
